Unemployed College Graduates Blog Yourself a Job

Being unemployed is perhaps the most stressful situation anyone can experience, particularly if job prospects are slim in your field. As unemployment in the United States remains painfully high, particularly among recent college graduates where 54% are unemployed or underemployed, the competition is fierce for the few good jobs that become available.
Job markets in some areas are so competitive that thousands turn up to apply for a handful of cashier jobs. People with impressive resumes are becoming a dime-a-dozen and many don’t know how to distinguish themselves from the pack. It’s even more difficult if you’re fresh out of college with little experience.
Are you one of the thousands of unemployed college graduates in America drowning in debt and living at home with your parents? It can be a hopeless feeling, right?
Well, at some point you have to stop hoping someone takes pity on you and gives you a job and go out and create your own opportunities.
One of the little known ways to do just that is by setting up a blog to broadcast your availability.
A blog can serve as a multifaceted resume that displays your talents to a potential employers that they could never attain from a piece of paper with words on it. In fact, if your blog is impressive enough, few may even care that you lack work experience.
A blog can show off your knowledge in a certain field, your writing and research skills, your personality and presentation skills, your eye for design, technical skills and so much more. It also proves that you have the ability and initiative to build something of value from scratch which requires tenacity and problem-solving skills.
And, as an added bonus, if you’re diligent about working on and promoting your blog, it has the potential to make you a nice income by itself.
Setting Up a Blog to Attract Employment
How to blog yourself a job really depends on what your employment goals are. But, first, it starts with creating a blog related to your field or whatever you’re passionate about. The process of setting up a blog is pretty straightforward and free on popular blogging platforms like Blogger, WordPress, or Typepad.
If your goal is to promote yourself or your services, you must create a detailed “About Me” page on your blog that essentially serves as a short-form resume. You may also consider making a video introducing yourself. Additionally, create a page called “Hire Me” or “My Services” that goes into more detail about what you can offer clients or companies.
Be witty and creative in your “About Me” section in how you present yourself. In other words, don’t just give your vital statistics. And instead of the dry information of names and dates that typically fill out your paper resume, offer a colorful portfolio of past work and experiences. Use images and video wherever possible. In place of references, be sure to include as many testimonials about you and your services as you can drum up.
It probably goes without saying, but try not to appear desperate. Be enthusiastic about your profession and confident in your ability.
How to Blog Yourself a Job
If you desire a full-time position, it’s best if your blog is more personal and geared toward the exact type of employment you hope to attract. For example, suppose you have a teaching degree, include blog content specifically about your teaching philosophy, your experiences, how you would handle certain challenges, commentary about current events in the school districts that you’re targeting, and so on.
On the other hand, if you seek freelance work, it will be more beneficial to write informative posts about your industry as a whole. For instance, if you’re a graphic artist, writing about the importance of branding, how colors affect psychology in marketing, different techniques and technologies used by designers, etc. In short, the material should be less about you and more about your craft.
Whether you seek freelance work or full-time employment, the type of content that will garner the most attention will be commentary about recent news, new technologies, or groundbreaking studies in your field. Internet traffic is driven by what’s trending, so after the foundation of your blog is established it’s best to focus on current events.
Make sure that you only post your very best work. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be a great writer, there is no excuse for grammatical errors. Word processing programs are terrific at catching mistakes and it’s smart to always have someone else proofread your articles before posting them. Finally, be professional in every aspect of your blog.
How to Get Noticed
So you’ve set up a blog and added some content, now what? How do you get potential employers to notice you?
Most people get a job because they were referred by a friend or colleague. So, the more friends, colleagues or customers you have that know what you’re capable of professionally, the higher chance you have for finding a job. As your blog audience grows so do your chances of reaching people who know people. Therefore, your goal for self-promotion is about getting more traffic to your blog.
Self-promotion may not be your strong suit, but with a blog you’re not exactly tooting your own horn face-to-face. Instead you’re simply promoting your blog content in the cyber world. It’s not as if you’re saying “look at me, look how great I am” either, rather the quality of your content should do the bragging for you. So don’t be bashful in sharing your blog.
Promoting your blog is about getting your work in front of as many people as possible. There are several techniques for increasing your traffic like syndicating your posts to relevant websites or places like Yahoo Voices or Squidoo, and sharing them on all social media outlets. But perhaps the most effective way to reach a bigger audience is by writing targeted guest posts for large websites in your field.
It’s vital to include in your short bio at the end of each article with your professional title and your employment goal, especially for your guest posts. In other words, you want to let the readers know what you do, that you’re available, and where to find you. For example: John Smith is a Sales and Marketing Specialist for hire. View his credentials and portfolio at his blog.
For personal encounters with people you meet on the street, have business cards made up and hand them out at every opportunity. They can be as simple as saying the following:
John Smith
Sales and Marketing Specialist for Hire
www.JohnKnowsMarketing.com
The purpose is to get them to visit your blog to see what you’re capable of. Business cards that promote your blog are also terrific to staple to the front of your physical resume when applying for jobs. Employers may skip the boring job-history information and look you up online. At the very least, it will most certainly set you apart from the other applicants.
Finally, as you continually add content and followers to your blog you may be surprised to discover that you can actually make money blogging, which may eventually negate the need for a job altogether. So if you’re a recent college grad who remains jobless, do yourself a favor and create your own job opportunity today by creating your own blog.

Google play – A new face of android market

It seems like Google has also started bringing quick updates for its products and services following the footsteps of Facebook. Well Google Play is not only a new replacement for Android market, but it’s a one stop solution for Google Music, Google eBook store, Google Movies and Android Market. It’s like cloud storage for all your android apps, music, eBooks and movies. Now you don’t need to worry about sync and do not fear of losing them.
Google felt that Android market name was a limitation of its products because people come in android market only to buy or download apps. Google wanted to describe all their products that they have to offer and it’s not only android apps that Google is offering. They have rebranded all of their offerings under one name that Google Play like android market will be renamed as Google Play Store, Google Movies will be named as Google Play Movies (wherever available), Google Music will be called as Google Play Music and Google Books will be called as Google Play Books which will amuse Blackberry fans.
Google Play Store sounds like a place for games, so this name is not getting positive feedback from users but Who Cares! Non android users who never visited Android Market will now visit Google Play because they might be using Google Music or Google Movies. So the whole concept behind this name change is increasing traffic.
Google Play has the same infrastructure as Android Market and there is no change for developers and even for users. People will log in from same credentials. There will be an update rolled out on Android devices running Android 2.2 or higher in couple of days and Android market will be renamed.
Google Play Music (currently unavailable in India) will let you store 20,000 songs and buy new tracks online (just like iTunes). You can also rent Movies and buy books from Google Play. So it’s actually meant to engage people and add more visitors. Google sync will keep your Movies, Songs, Apps and Books available offline too but the amount of data will depend on the internal storage capacity of your device. So try to use wireless internet while trying to download some stuff from cloud as it might exhaust your mobile data usage.
Official Google Blogs States:
In the U.S., music, movies, books and Android apps are available in Google Play. In Canada and the U.K., we’ll offer movies, books and Android apps; in Australia, books and apps; and in Japan, movies and apps. Everywhere else, Google Play will be the new home for Android apps.

Using Nexus 7 with a keyboard

I have a reputation for using tablets in my work by using them with keyboards to write thousands of words. They are very good at that as my working history proves, but only to a point.
The Nexus 7 will never be good for writing as I do, even with a good external keyboard. Thats due to one factor: size. While the 7-inch display makes the Nexus 7 perfect for a portable companion, it is too limiting for use as a laptop replacement.
This limit is due to two factors, keyboard width and display size. Just like the original 7-inch netbook, the Eee PC, the Nexus 7 is too narrow to support a case with a workable keyboard. I never could type well on the Eee PC, and the same would be true for any keyboard for the Nexus 7.
The screen size is even worse for using in a laptop configuration with a keyboard. While the small display is perfect while held in the hand not too far from the eyes, its a different ballgame when propped up with a keyboard for typing. The small screen is too far from the eyes and just too darn small to be useful.
Thats why I cant see ever using the Nexus 7 as a standin for writing, even if its the only gadget in the bag. While larger tablets like the iPad work well for me for such tasks, I am not willing to use something that makes the process difficult. A tiny display would certainly do that so Ill stick to using the iPad for writing and the Nexus 7 for most everything else.

Android 2 3 How to Safely Factory Reset a Gingerbread Device
All devices running the Gingerbread Android OS can be factory reset (or wiped) using similar steps. This tutorial describes what a factory reset actually does and how to do it safely.

What do the factory reset actually do?
The purpose of the factory reset is to wipe the device of all personal information and return the device as closely as possible to its originally purchased state. The only difference is that during the factory reset, however, the latest stable version of the Android OS will likely be installed. For example, if you are running 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 is available for your device, you will likely be upgraded to 2.3.4 when you perform the factor reset.
During the reset all personal information is removed. Optionally your SD card can be wiped as well. All applications are also removed. Android market will remember your paid applications and can optionally reinstall these applications for you. Your free applications typically will not be remembered. Even if the applications are installed to an SD card, these applications will still need to be reinstalled.
When Should I do a Factory Reset
If you are selling or returning a device, a factory reset will prevent somebody from easily stealing your personal data from the device. A factory reset is often a “last ditch” effort to get a very glitchy phone working well again.
Preparing for the Reset

1. Connect your phone to AC through some method. Running out of power during the reset could theoretically brick your phone.
2. Be sure you know your Google username and password. Be sure that Google’s backup is enabled viaSettings -> Privacy -> Back up my data
3. Export your contacts to your SD memory card if you wish. Select Contacts and then Back up contacts. Then you can select Memory card.
4. You may want to make a list of all the applications you have on your system. You can find the list through Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications. Several free android applications will help with this process as well if you wish to try a third party option.
Wiping the Device
This process will completely wipe your device. Even if you backup everything as recommended above, you may lose some application data or settings. This is not a process that should be done lightly.
To factory reset, select Settings then Privacy and then Factory data reset.

A warning screen will next appear. From here you can select if you want the SD card in the device erased as well. Press the Erase button. You will have to confirm one last time via the Erase everything button. Your device will reboot and the reset process will be completed.

Guide on How to Install a leaked Honeycomb on HTC flyer
From a news month ago that HTC spokesperson has confirmed the Honeycomb upgrade for HTC flyer will be made available as soon as possible after it releases. Its been little while ago since that report claimed. But now, you might probably already know, The Beta version of the Honeycomb for HTC Flyer has leaked a few days ago. Advance users already tested the said ROM even its been somewhat very complicated to install. The process reportedly tested and works on a Euro WWE 32 GB 3G Flyer and may also work with other variants but unconfirmly works well so far.
Heres a few screenshoots just for a brief details of what have we got to the the HTC Flyer Honeycomb update.

Important Things Needs to Consider Before Following this Guide:
* This process is recommended for experts only!
* This guide is only tested on a Euro WWE 32GB 3G Flyer - it may work on other configurations, but this is untested (id advise reading the topic to see if anyone has experimented with your configuration!)
* Anything you do from this point forward is at your own risk - my Flyer works and ive resurrected a couple of others, but I take no responsibility if it all goes horribly wrong. You COULD brick your tablet
* Do NOT under any circumstances run the RUU in its entirety nor fastboot flash rom.zip - this will make irreversible changes that you dont want!
* Be careful if you flash any RUUs or do anything that could revert you to S-ON on a broken system - this could leave you stuck
The installing process needs to ensure that you have an RUU that matches the ROM version of your HTC Flyer just a back up if anything went wrong and can roll back the process. You can follow the complete step by step installation guides from Paul of Android Modaco here on this thread.

Top 5 Things you should know before you buy a mattress

How to choose the right mattress ? Buy a quality mattress and that really hard time, accompanying our sleep for many years without problems, it can be an investment is not insignificant from an economic standpoint.
Before you decide what type of mattress to buy , you should carefully evaluate your needs and know the specifications of the product are better able to influence its price, in addition to the different characteristics of the types of mattress that can most commonly be found for sale.
Top 5 Things you should know before you buy a mattress
1) Price
It good to know how the final price of the product affect many materials used for upholstery and padding. Before asking if a mattress is truly hypoallergenic, it is advisable to inquire about the type and origin of the materials used, in order to avoid those components that you may be allergic to and so you can justify the price at which the item is sold .
2) Lining
One of the most important parts of the mattress is made up of the lining , since it represents the element positioned closer to our body. Some mattresses sold as "hypoallergenic" may have a lining in polyester or other synthetic materials , which could be due to sweating during the night hours. And therefore advisable to make sure that the mattress cover is made of a natural fabric like cotton. The choice could fall on a lining organic cotton and breathable .
3) Double
The shape of your bed should not be underestimated in order to guide the choice of your mattress. For questions of space-saving, often the beds currently on sale are equipped with compartments located beneath the mattress , which allow for example to store the winter blankets during the warm season. This, however, hinders the circulation of air beneath the mattress and could lead to the formation of mold. The problem in a particular way the latex mattresses .
4) Sleep
Latex mattress or memory foam? The choice between the two different types of mattress could also be based on their behavior during the night . In the event that indeed there is a tendency to fidget frequently during sleep, latex mattress is able to ensure greater freedom of movement, while the memory foam mattress is considered more suitable for those who tend to remain motionless during rest, as in the mattress creates a comfortable space for the body on the basis of a same position maintained long.
5) Zone
There are mattresses to 3, 5 and 7 zones (in some cases even beyond). The areas of the mattress are designed to ensure greater support to the different parts of the body, with particular reference to the areas of the back and legs. E therefore possible, in the case of the areas, moving towards the mattress that gives more support depending on the parts of its body considered most problematic (for example, because of the pain)
6) Memory Foam
The memory foam mattress is designed to fit perfectly to the shape of the body. Not everyone is aware of the fact that it is shaped not so much by the weight of the body, as the heat emanating from it. Thats why, if you opt to purchase a memory foam mattress, you should ensure that it is made from breathable fabrics as much as possible. As can adapt to the shape of the body Memory foam mattress is considered to be of type orthopedic .
7) Lattice
The latex mattress is often considered as the best choice in case of allergy to mites dust, it is a type of mattress that does not allow the absorption of dust and mites that it can bring to the material it is achieved. On the contrary, it is not suitable for those, however, who suffer from latex allergy itself. The latex allergy is usually related to natural latex. In this case, you could opt for a LaTeX mattress covered with the top layer of the memory foam.
8) Stiffness
The different types of mattress (box spring, zones, latex, memory foam, etc.) may have different levels of stiffness. A more rigid mattress support is given to individuals by the greater weight and a higher stiffness could provide in this case a more prolonged life of the product over time. A mattress that is too soft may not provide the necessary support to the spine. There are mattresses of medium rigidity, variable depending on the materials of manufacture, which could represent a good compromise in some cases. The softer mattresses are considered suitable for children and the elderly, as well as people read more.
9) Adjustable Beds
And well, when you purchase your mattress, take advice on the most appropriate Adjustable to be combined with it.The adjustable Beds coupled between the mattress and in fact would not be at all obvious. In the case of mattresses thickness thinner, Adjustable Beds is more stressed and therefore should be more rigid. From the same point of view, it is also good to select a Adjustable from the stiffness adjustable , so you can adapt it to the mattress at its disposal that meet your needs.
10) Bio-Magnetic Mattress
Beware of scams and to find business. The "Bio-Magnetic Mattress" actually does not exist . According to what criteria a mattress could be defined as "organic"? The Consumer Protection Centre informs us of how in fact the attribute "bio" can be used only for food and only when these meet the European requirements for organic farming, duly certified by an approved inspection body. This attribute can not therefore be applied to other categories of products (unless they do not have quality food).
