PhoneFactor Introduces Smarter Authentication App for iOS

We have time and again discussed the issue of iPhone security; and the latest iPhone app that promises uncompromising security complete with an ‘authentication’ option is the PhoneFactor App. Available now as an app for Apple’s iPhone and iPad, PhoneFactor is basically an authentication system that uses mobile phones as a second factor for improved security to any existing corporate or website login.

PhoneFactor has been a trusted partner in offering secured transactions to users, logging in to an enterprise application or when performing an online transaction on a PC. PhoneFactor ensures authentication of your requests only when they respond to a prompt sent to your mobile phone.

Enter your username and password.

Step 2:

PhoneFactor instantly pushes a notification to the PhoneFactor app on your smartphone. Simply tap “Authenticate” in the app to log in.

So, whenever you (user) enter your password to make an online transaction on your PC, the PhoneFactor app causes a notification box to pop up on your iPhone for authentication. All you require to do then is ‘tap’ on an authentication button in that box to complete the log-in process.

The system ensures a minimum of two factors indispensable for user authentication – the user name and password requested on the PC; and the user’s phone with the working app. However, an administrator can even opt for an additional layer of security, by making the user type a PIN (personal identification number) into the notification box before ‘tapping’ the authentication button.

Apple Patented Touch Screen Dashboard for Car

Apple reportedly returned patented new technology. This time related to the automotive world, in the form of a touchscreen display which can provide feedback to the driver without taking his eyes off the road. Patent number 8,482,535 issued Patent and Trademark Office United States (USPTO) on July 9 that includes an explanation of the "touch screen that can be programmed and the interface between humans and machines to improve vehicle instrumentation and telematics".

As quoted from the Tech Radar, the simple description above describes a touch-screen interface that replaces the function knob, lever, and the slider on the dashboard of the vehicle, such as air conditioning controller. (see picture below)

Apple granted patent on this allows the company to apply the technology in question on the following car dashboard integration with mobile phones.

In addition to patents, the iOS version of the 7 newly released beta 3 also found a number of functions "accessory developer" which among other things contains a hidden option to transfer music, data maps, Siri, and other content over WiFi from the iPhone to the dashboard, even when the phone is concerned being kept in a bag or purse.

Well, if Apple started seriously working on the gadget integration with the vehicle? Patents and new features mentioned seem to indicate a tendency towards it.

P7500XWKK4 Android 3 2 Honeycomb Firmware Update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 1 3G P7500 leaks

The Android 3.2 Honeycomb firmware for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G P7500 leaked. This is the first Android 3.2 firmware update for Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G that has been available online. The firmware build number is P7500XWKK4 with a build date as of November 11,2011. The stock ROm comes with a SEB CSC file which is for European versions of SGS Tab P7500 3G version. Some advance users already tried flashing this ROM and says it’s a little bit faster than the previous P7500XXKI1 and P7500XXKI2..

Anyway, we spotted this ROM a while ago on Kies server but unfortunately being pulled out by Samsung with no reasons, the devs might be still working for progress. So, if you want to try it out, the Odin flashable stock ROM is now available, remember this is a leak version and maybe available officially released sooner.

Samsung ICS 4 0 for Galaxy S i9000

(Important! It’s the first port of ICS and it’s still very much in heavy development. So, expect this custom ROM to be updated more than frequently in the coming days, until it gets as good as you hope it to be. So, always check and download the latest version available at the aforementioned link. Rest of the process is same)
Transfer it to your phone’s sdcard.
You need to have ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery installed on your phone. If you don’t have it already do this:
Install XXJVS firmware first.
Root and install CWM recovery on XXJVS.
Power Off your Galaxy S. Wait for 5-6 seconds until you feel the vibration to confirm complete switch off.
Then, press and hold these 3 buttons together: VolumeUP+Home+Power till the Galaxy S logo shows up on screen. You’ll soon see the CWM recovery.
In recovery, use Volume keys to scroll up and down and power key to select an option. Use back key to go back.
Now, select “install zip from sd card”. Then, select “choose zip from sd card”. Now, browse through sd card and select the file ICS Custom ROM you downloaded in step 1 and transferred in step 2 above. Select “Yes – Install ___” on the next screen.
This will flash the required files on your phone and will reboot your phone into recovery again. This is a slightly different recovery now.
Do Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Do Wipe Cache Partition
Now, you need to flash the ICS Custom ROM file again. So, select “install zip from sd card”, select “choose zip from sd card”, browse and select the same file again and choose “Yes – Install ___” again.
This time, the ICS Custom ROM will be flashed actually and after it’s installed, your phone will reboot with ICS lock screen visible upon boot. (if the phone gets stuck while booting up, showing fugumod thing at the bottom, then remove the battery and insert it back, go to recovery mode and repeat from step 9 again. This worked for me. Twice!)

It is being posted for development purposes only, however Lttldvl and I wish for this to be an open community, and which for other developers to help fix the issues that are still present.
The rom DOES NOT currently get passed the lockscreen, as touch sensors and screen resolution need fixed.
Edit: using 2 fingers or back key and menu key will get you past lockscreen.

Micromax Funbook Talk P360 available online for INR 7 049

Micromax has released yet another Android tablet in the Indian market. The tablet, which is known as Funbook Talk P360, will be joining the company’s growing Funbook series of devices. Frankly, there is nothing exciting here. Micromax has got in to this habit of changing odd feature here and there and launching a new product every month.

The Funbook Talk P360 will be succeeding company’s previously launched Funbook Talk P350 tablet and not much has changed here. Micromax has just added 512MB of more RAM, rear camera and little more battery power. Samsung Begins Mass Production of 3GB RAM Chip for Smartphones

Samsung Electronics announced the start of mass production of DRAM chips 3GB Low Power Double Data Rate 3 (LPDDR3) first for mobile devices. The chip is made through a 20 nanometer process and is found on the device which was announced in the second half of 2013. Each module consists of six 0.5 GB chips are stacked on each other in two sets, and is connected to the processor via two symmetrical data transfer channels. In theory, this will result in faster performance because each pin is capable of transferring up to 2,133 Mbps.

With the thinner size, free space is available in a mobile device will certainly become more widespread and can be used for large-capacity battery. In addition, the amount of RAM capacity also allows users to enjoy faster multitasking and more, Full HD video playback, and a significant increase in speed on LTE-A network standard (LTE Advanced).
